ART HISTORY WITH THE FRIENDS: Triumph of Pan Picasso in Occupied Paris with Cliff Tisdell

Reception at 3:30pm

The Triumph of Pan

PICASSO IN OCCUPIED PARIS

A visual presentation with artist Cliff Tisdell

How did Picasso, a known anti-fascist, not only survive but manage to produce art in Paris during the war? Why did he stay in France at great personal risk? Several of Picasso's fellow artists and intellectuals also remained in France. What were their circumstances? Cliff Tisdell will examine these questions and review Picasso's work from the war years. A graduate of Rutgers University, Tisdell studied at the Arts Student League, the School of Visual Arts, Parsons, and the NYU Media Center. His work has appeared in universities and galleries around the country.
